How Flaps Affect Flight Controls

Flaps (high lift devices) reduce stall angle when needed and help shorten take off and landing distance by decreasing drag, but have no bearing on flight turns; primary flight controls include Ailerons, Elevators and Rudder input for turning.

Flap selection and trust setting have an effect on the NP of a Foker wing, therefore an accurate CG calculation is crucial for safe operation – please see article for further details.
